Last harvest day for Blaufränkisch -

Yesterday we picked our Blaufränkisch in the vineyard Ried Point; today we
are finishing up with Ried Setz.
The yield is extremely meagre because of the late frost at the end of April,
but the quality is exceptionally fine!
Perfectly mature and gorgeous deeply coloured clusters, crunchy grape skins
and marvellous flavour!

Gloria

The sun shone radiantly as we were harvesting our Chardonnay in Ried Gloria,
and our mood was sunny as well.
Marvellously ripe grapes with just a bit of 'noble rot'.
Depending on how many berries in the cluster were affected by the botrytis
mold, we either discarded those grapes,
or in the case of more than 25% botrytis berries left the entire cluster
hanging on the vine,
where in a few weeks they can be selectively picked for a potential
Beerenauslese.

Tatschler

Ried Tatschler brings us to the conclusion of this year's Chardonnay
harvest.
Superlative ripeness and perfectly healthy clusters are a total pleasure for
the picking team!

Blaufränkisch -

The sun is smiling upon us!
Even the Blaufränkisch grapes are mature now, and show the first signs of
overripeness.
We're picking today in the vineyards Haussatz and Setz.

The Zweigelt Harvest

Today we are picking Zweigelt in the vineyard Ried Neusatz. There are
already many berries that have shrivelled, though remaining in a healthy
condition - the hallmark of a great vintage.
Our weather in recent weeks was simply perfect.

Harvest time.

Today we are picking our Sauvignon Blanc in the Ried Steinmühle. The grapes
are ripe and full of spicy aromas.
As usual with Sauvignon, there are already some rot-affected berries in the
clusters, which must be picked out with great care.
Unfortunately, the anticipated volume is extremely small, a result of the
late frost at the end of April.
'Klein und fein' – small and fine – is the motto for this year's harvest.

Sowing the greencover

During the last few days we turned over the old greencover in every other
lane between vine rows with a disc harrow, and used the rotary harrow to
prepare a fine seedbed.

The rain showed up right on time, just after we were done with the seeding -
perfect!

According to the type of soil, we introduced three different cover crops:
vetch rye, blended clover, and for autumn greenery, oil
radish-phacelia-buckwheat.
